In Hapkido, using the direction of power is very important. Perpendicular defence would result in either a break or push. However, circular defense or from the side would deflect away the attack thus there is less danger of being either broken or pushed away. When the opponent attacks directly from the front, by leading the attack in a circle, the opponent's strength will be diminished and lose its effectiveness. This circular defense can be used with very little power. |
